If you really know me, you’d know that my favorite local band is Sandwich (if you don’t, now alam mo na). Last Sept 27 they visited our neck of the woods. And just like the lyrics of their song Sugod - isang linggong pinagipunan, isang buwan inabangan - I waited a long time for this gig. I filed my VL early and contacted some friends. Then. . .
Milenyo came in.
It was a Wednesday na nga (all my friends were busy) then it was the day before Milenyo hit Manila. So I convinced DY to take half day and come watch the gig with me. Salamat pards. That night was really weird, it was constantly drizzling but that was all. So i passed it off as overhyped lang si Milenyo.
We arrived around 9pm and got good seats in front. The gig was free coz it was part of the Jaegermeister bar tour (FREE PARE - numero uno pa rin Pinas!!!). I got a free shot of Jaegermeister from one of the tall promo girls (hindi ok? hindi sya maganda, mukha syang bak… oh nevermind). It was good - if you think that malamig na Tempra is good.
The band came on stage around 10+. They played a mix of songs from all the albums including Bakit ang babae from the APO revival album. After a few songs, Raimund introduced the band and shouts "Natakot sa atin ang bagyo! mag enjoy lang tayo tonight kasi walang pasok bukas" (hindi kami kasali dyan Mund). I took a couple of pics and posted it, check it out. A couple more songs after, the bassist of Rivermaya was invited from the audience to perform the 90’s Pinoy youth athem Laklak.
I was never a type of person na lumalapit sa mga "ta-artits", but I really could’nt pass up this opportunity. After the show I approached Raimund and we talked for a while. Man, this guy was down to Earth. I was asking him where I could get the 1st album and telling him how a big fan I was. He was very accomodating, answering all my questions and no hint of rockstar crap attitude. Lastly, I asked for a pic with him. Nakuha, but when I arrived at home I checked my phone and apparently to my excitement I was not able to save the pic!!! @*$+^%&!!!
After Raimund, I went to Mike D. to ask about the the shirts that he was plugging. I bought a shirt from him then we chatted for a while. He told me that he was also from BF and was an alumni of Manresa. He also said that the band was in a hurry that night because they were preparing to shoot the music video for DVDX.
Went home a bit tipsy and pissed because of the lost pic but I was happy. I finally got to see the band again up close. Then the next day Milenyo reached Manila and all hell broke loose.
Hirit of the night:
Raimund - "Kanta kayo, once a year lang kami tumutugtog ng Laklak!"

For all those people asking me about my blog, I’m sorry to have kept you waiting. I previously had net connection problems (aka pinagbawalan na akong gumamit ng PC sa bahay coz I was the last person to use it bago nasira hehe).
So after saving my quids, I was able to acquire a laptop (yez… cos aym inobatib).
A lot has happened since my last blog entry almost 6 months ago. Yes… A LOT.
So here goes, happy new year to you. But the entries will be about the latter half of 2006.
Life is good. But God is good, always.

Nikki, DY and I went to the POT reunion show at the 70’s bistro to celebrate my haberday. We arrived around 8:30pm thinking that we came in early… NOT! The place was packed already. It’s a good thing the soundman (Bub kilala mo sya) helped us to get a table.
The place can probably sit 150 people comfortably. Up until 11pm, people were still pouring in. Estimate ko we were around 300+ by the time POT started to play. I even told DY "Pare pagnakasunog dito, ozone tragedy part 2 ito hehe". Space was so tight, Nik and I sat on the bar with our heads touching the ceiling!
Indio I opened the night… enough said.
POT went on stage with Karl Roy’s usual kakulitan. Telling stories of how the band started and why they disbanded. But I went to this show to see Mally Paraguya (lead guitar) play, and shit man, he did not dissapoint. This guy can play shred and be clear and funky at the same time. Even Nik can’t stop praising him! They played the whole album, astig! The whole band is still on top of their game, walang pa ring sabit. The energy that they were able to generate from the crowd was intense. No wonder this band has achieved a cult status that some bands can only dream of. And yes, entrance is still PHP150 + beer. Sulit na naman ciento cinquenta ko.
Check out my pics but i have to apologize for the lousy resolution. We were seated pretty far back ang my phonecam isn’t fond of the zoom option. Sayang Bub and Bonnie hindi kayo naka punta. Will sched another gimik like this nalang.
Hirit of the night:
Karl: "Alam nyo kaya kami naghiwalay kasi isa sa amin nalulon sa drugs eh".
Audience: "Sino?!"
Karl: with a smirk on his face "Obvious ba?!"

For a mere Php 150 nakapanood na kami ng apat na banda, may beer pa. Gimmick on a tuesday night, only people with weird work scheds can afford to go on an alanganin weekday night.
Bonnie, Bub and me took a roadtrip from Alabang to Anonas (yes, roadtrip na sa amin yan). The bane of southerners, walang matinong tugtugan ng mga banda around our area. It was a 2 and half hour drive. Hindi sya ganun kalayo, si Bub lang kasi yung nag drive hehe. I think Bonnie could’ve taken us there at half the time.
Outside 70’s there was a sign ‘Happy Birthday She’. We don’t know her but thank God bday nya. I think she’s pretty popular with the local rock scene. Daming pumunta like sina Jay, Ebe and Raimund Marasigan to name a few. Swerte.
Itchyworms played songs from their new album (sa wakas narinig ko na sila, magaling daw sila sabi ng isang friend ko na close sa kanila). Then they called on Jay of Kamikazee to sing Narda. Ayos! Bonus #1.
Then turn na nang Rivermaya around 1am. Maganda yung mix nila ng old and new songs. Nakita namin ni Bub live yung tapping technique nung gitarista nila while playing the solo of Liwanag sa Dilim. Hayop! After that, Rico calls on Ebe of Sugarfree to sing 214. Bonus #2. Laughtrip, chorus lang alam niya.
Sulit cientos cincuenta ko, sarap mabuhay sa Pinas. Ichekitout nyo the pics.
Hirit of the night:
Mark Escueta: "… wag nyo akong tanunging sa chords."

The Rock Ed 1st anniv concert last July 1 was amazing. Mixing social awareness and rock and roll, galing talaga! This was held in the middle of Eastwood. More than 10 bands played that night. Nikki and Ellen came with me to watch. I was kinda worried na they won’t enjoy. First band palang, the Ninja was sold na sa Agaw Agimat. "Wan little two little three little indians!!!!" pare.
This was a free concert by the way. I enjoyed the performances of Dicta License, Kala, Juanpablodream, Radioactive Sago Project and Chicosci. Check the photo album for the pics.
Hirit of the night:
Gang: Tawagin natin ang spokesman ng DAKILA! Si Tado!
Crowd: Tado!!! Tado!!! Tado!!!
(Tado runs up the stage and grabs the mic)
Tado: Tarantado din kayo! hehe
